📋 Overview
Fable Pets (fablepets.com) is a pet products company selling crates, beds, toys, and accessories. They wanted an AI chatbot on their website to help dog owners find the right products and get pet care advice. Built the chatbot system — product recommendations, customer support integration, and conversational commerce.
💡 Context
The team wanted a chatbot that could actually sell — not just answer FAQs, but understand what a customer's dog needed and recommend the right products. With a large customer base on Klaviyo and existing support through Gorgias, the chatbot needed to integrate with their existing tools and handle real product conversations.
🛠 Tech Stack
🧠 Technical Architecture
Built a compositional intelligence system where different AI modules handled different concerns — intent classification, product matching, conversational flow, and memory retrieval. Each module could be swapped or upgraded independently.
Used Pinecone vector embeddings to give the chatbot persistent memory. It could reference past conversations, remember a dog's breed and dietary needs, and build context over time — making each interaction more personalized than the last.
Built a recommendation engine that matched customer needs to Fable's product catalog. The bot could explain why a specific product was right for their situation, handle objections, and guide users through purchase decisions.
🎯 Role
Contract developer — built the chatbot system, integrated with Fable's existing Gorgias and Klaviyo stack, and iterated based on customer interactions.
