📋 Overview
Cumulus Coffee is a specialty coffee and machine retailer. I came on as a solo consultant and quickly became their go-to developer over a much larger Shopify agency. The scope grew from quick theme fixes to owning their entire e-commerce technical stack — accessibility compliance, subscription migrations, promotional campaigns, and a DIY data infrastructure that replaced expensive third-party tools.
💡 Context
The client was paying a Shopify agency (Myntr) that was slow and overpriced. I started with small fixes and proved I could ship faster, cheaper, and with better quality. Within months, I was handling everything the agency used to do — plus building new capabilities they never could.
🛠 Tech Stack
🧠 Key Contributions
Planned and implemented a 4-phase Black Friday/Cyber Monday funnel with toggle-gated holiday components, promotional landing pages, and a clean revert strategy. The campaign ran smoothly across multiple product categories with zero downtime.
Audited their entire SaaS stack and identified significant spend in redundant or underused tools. Migrated functionality to native Shopify features or cheaper alternatives without losing capability.
Built a data pipeline — ETL into BigQuery, dashboards in Looker Studio, revenue reconciliation against Netsuite. Replaced expensive vendor tools with a lean setup the team actually uses.
Fixed site-wide accessibility issues to meet WCAG compliance standards, improving both the user experience and legal posture.
🎯 Role
Solo consultant — lead Shopify developer, analytics architect, and technical advisor. Replaced the agency as the primary technical resource for the entire e-commerce operation.
